Big Green Truck Pizza was founded by New Haven catering veteran, Doug Coffin. As he and a small team headed out for their first job on Labor day weekend in 2003, they were unsure if the truck would even work. Well, it turned out to be quite the hit and now we run five trucks that travel throughout Connecticut doing over 50 parties a week during the height of our season!
Our trucks are International Harvesters Kb5 1947-1948. Each truck is restored and customized to fit a top-of-the-line wood fired oven, refrigerator, espresso machine, hand sink, storage space and much more. The sides on the bed of the truck are specially designed to come off and stand as our prep and serving tables, no space is wasted. In June of 2018, we opened our brick and mortar location, Next Door, located directly next to the garage that houses our trucks. We offer our same great pizza plus a full food and bar menu for dine-in and take-out. Next Door also boasts a beautiful private party/event space with its own bar and view of the pizza oven available year round!
In 2021, Big Green Truck Pizza was bought by long time operations manager, Liane Varipapa Page and her mother, Barbara Varipapa. They continue to run the family business tradition with their family.
